Mission Moms School Supply Drive

School Supply Drive

Starting Monday, August 8th through Saturday, August 13th, drop off your donations of new and unopened school supplies to Argyle Feed & Hardware.  For your generous donation of a new, unused backpack, we’ll give you a coupon for $10 off your next purchase. All school supply donations benefit Mission Moms’ Blessings of the Backpacks Annual School Supply Drive.

The Blessings of the Backpacks School Supply Drive helps provide backpacks to over 200 children at area schools in Argyle, Lewisville and other area school districts.  Most children look forward to starting school with new backpacks, lunchboxes and supplies.  However, for some families unable to provide due to financial hardship, it’s one more void that makes their children feel different. Mission Moms is thrilled to help provide backpacks and lunchboxes and give these kids yet another opportunity to feel that precious “normalcy” among their school peers.

On Saturday, August 13th, while you’re out shopping for your own family’s Back to School items, pick up a few extra supplies for the Blessings of the Backpacks Drive and then head to Argyle Feed for lunch on us from 11 am to 2 pm.  Of course, donations can be dropped off at the store any time between August 8th and 13th. Help kids in our community begin the school year with a successful start and we’ll reward you for your generosity with $5 off your next purchase at Argyle Feed & Hardware!

About Mission Moms

Mission Moms began with one mother’s vision…to show love and support to families met with challenging times.  Mission Moms’ primary mission statement is to teach children the importance of giving, serving within their communities and acting on the kindness within their hearts.  Kathryn Flores started Mission Moms in October 2012 after seeing her children’s (then Evan, 6 yrs and Lincoln 4 yrs) excitement about toys that would be available every Christmas.  Commercials and magazines flooded their innocent souls and, as children do, want everything they see.  “We have always tried to lead them along the path of helping others, but we believe it takes action to make a lifelong impact,” says Flores.  “My husband Joe and I believe it is our obligation to groom two boys into men that will lead great families and make a difference in the lives of others.”

So, with the help of school counselor, Mrs. Melanie Stolfus, the brainstorming began to orchestrate ways to teach children about serving with kindness and appreciation for their blessings.  Each mission is personal, for a specific cause, with a unique focus, helping extraordinary people. Within 30 days, the group created a Mission Moms website page and group on Facebook with over 80 members and many more followers. Flores believes “our area was hungry to help.  There are so many fabulous causes and ways to give back, but seeing the needs here, in our own backyard, was simply shocking.  We hope our missions will energize area residents, businesses and organizations to begin reaching out to those that have met challenging circumstances and give them the kindness that we have been fortunate and blessed enough to experience. We believe we will provide the assistance needed to provide positive opportunities to help others that may otherwise go unnoticed to bigger charities.  I am beyond humbled at such overwhelming reception that friends and their friends and relatives of friends have shown the families within our reach.”
